Mother To Another Dimension by Ekundayo
1xRun: Tell us a bit about this piece, how the idea and execution came about?
Ekundayo: This piece is all about “Discovery” the elderly woman is meant to represent our ancestors passing on the mysteries and knowledge of the past to the youth.
1xRun: How long did the piece take you from start to finish?
Ekundayo: Really couldn’t say because I often start a piece paint over it then start another but I look at all of it as one long piece because the time spent building the unseen layers cant really be seen but I believe there felt
1xRun: What is unique about this piece compared with other recent pieces you have done?
Ekundayo: This piece was created on a canvas I prepped and stretched myself, aside from that it was also the first piece I made in the studio I work out of in Hawaii for part of the year.
1xRun: What else have you been up to as of late, and what else do you have on the horizon?
Ekundayo: Really excited to start a new body of work and create a few more large scale murals before the years up!
